BOWIE-DICK TEST 3.5 min/134°C
Kit containing device and strip tests
Checks on the operation of the autoclave are carried out using the BOWIE & DICK test. Bowie-dick tests should be carried out daily (before starting work), as well as after every repair/service, after moving the unit to a different location and after any prolonged inactivity.
Batch control - BOWIE-DICK-test in class 2 technology. The tests are designed for sterilisation at 134°C / 3.5 min.
System for daily steam quality control in vacuum autoclaves. Designed to accurately check steam penetration and maintenance of all Bowie-Dick cycle parameters, the Bowie Dick test consists of a white polypropylene bulb for chemical strip tests, which is connected to a 1.5m long Teflon tube. The Bowie Dick test prematurely detects abnormalities during Bowie Dick test cycles, faults that are caught are:
- sterilisation at too low a temperature
- sterilisation for too short a time
- insufficient vacuum value and number of vacuum pulses
- insufficient air removal from the depths of the equipment
- insufficient penetration of steam in hollow appliances
- leakage from pipelines / valves / door seals
- detection of the presence of a small volume of inert gases in the steam supply
- detection of excessive condensate
The BOWIE-DICK test consists of the following components:
- 1 piece Helix device (screw-on polypropylene tube with 1.5m Teflon tube)
- self-adhesive chemical strip indicators (ISO 11140-1 Class 2)
- 1 piece cotton bag
- 1 pc instruction manual with illustration of indicator colour change
Each strip of the blue chemical indicator is 6 mm wide and 38 mm long (whole test including description 7.6 cm). After a correct process the indicator will change colour from blue to pink.
BDHT is contained in a cardboard box with dimensions 178 x 125 x 50mm (L x S x W).
The label on the box contains: product description, contents of the box, reference number, LOT number, production date, expiry date.
How to use and read the results
After 3.5 minutes at 134°C, the colour changes from blue to pink. The behaviour of the indicator depends on time, temperature, saturated steam properties, correct vacuum and the tightness of the autoclave. The minimum exposure requirements for a specific change are: 134°C (+1.5K / -00.0K) dry saturated steam, 3.5 minutes.
Application area
Steam sterilisers ofall types.
Package includes PCD + 100 tests.
