MELAcontrol Bowie & Dick Test is a test system according to EN ISO 11140-1 (Type 2) for routine checking of steam penetration in autoclaves. The practical test package simulates an instrument package weighing several kilograms that is sterilized in an autoclave with fractional prevacuum. Successful color change of the indicator in the test package occurs after 3.5 min at 134 ° C.
Operation of the MELAcontrol Bowie & Dick test is very simple: place the test package in the desired batch location. Run the sterilization program, then check the result. With sufficient steam penetration, the indicator turns from yellow to black.
